Pregnancy Help

Preeclampsia

Pre-eclampsia is diagnosed when there is hypertension (especially a sudden rapid rise) in conjunction with protein in the urine, elevated uric acid, sudden weight gain, reduced urination and excessive fluid retention.

You may experience headaches, blurred vision, abdominal pain, itchiness, or vomiting.

Pre-eclampsia is serious, and you and your baby will be monitored to ensure that the bloodflow to your baby is not overly restricted. If it does, the condition progresses to elampsia, and a caesarean or an induction may be recommended.

 Treatments:
  • Calcium and magnesium supplements, especially MuscleEase or CPMP.
  • Improving kidney function with herbs such as nettle tea (talk to our Naturopath first).
  • Reducing blood pressure with herbs such as hawthorn (talk to our Naturopath first).
  • Increasing essential fatty acids such as EPO, DHA and EPA.
  • Avoid sugar, caffeine, and stress.
