Allergies

Food allergies or intolerances are considered to exist when there is an inappropriate adverse reaction to the ingestion of food or irritation from an external irritant. There maybe immediate or delayed reactions, some reactions taking up to 3 days after ingestion.

Common signs and symptoms of food allergies are dark circles and puffiness under the eyes, diarrhea or constipation, bloating and flatulence, eczema, dermatitis or hives, irritability, anxiety, inability to loose weight and much more.
The reaction may or may not be mediated by the immune system. It could be caused by a food protein, starch or other food component, or by a contaminant found in food ie colourings or preservatives.
The incidence of food sensitivities has increased at an alarming rate in the last 30 years possibly due to increased stresses on the immune system, earlier weaning and earlier introduction of solid foods to infants, genetic manipulation of plants and increased ingestion of fewer foods.

Allergenics – Allergy Testing Service

Allergenics is a New Zealand owned and operated company which provides Hair Testing for Allergies.
The service is inexpensive, accurate and non-invasive.
Using an EAV machine (Electro-Acupuncture according to Voll), originally developed by Dr Reinhold Voll in Germany. The machine measures changes in the electro-magnetic resonance of the hair sample when exposed to different foods, additives and other substances, thus giving a reading that reflects sensitivity. One of the most popular and effective forms of allergy testing.
The results of EAV testing have been compared to standard diagnostic modalities (RAST, serum IGE, intra-dermal allergy skin testing, food rechallenge testing and allergy history analysis). EAV testing results were the most effective and accurate along with food rechallenging testing, which is widely considered the most effective of the standard methods.
